About the event

We had such a special time last May performing at the "Cathedral of the Marshes", and to such a fantastic audience (thank you if you were there), that we couldn't resist coming back to share more music. Sacred and secular; familiar and lesser known; plaintive, moving, exhilharating and joyous - there'll be something for everyone to enjoy.

Our title, "Spring's sweet voice" is a phrase taken from one of Elgar's Songs from the Bavarian Highlands, which we'll sing for you along with folk songs arranged by John Rutter and music by the prolific and popular composer Paul Ayres including his arrangement of the Bacharach classic Close To You. Before that, some of the most beautiful European sacred music by composers including Mozart, Byrd, Brahms, Saint-Saens, Ola Gjeilo and Karl Jenkins. There's no better venue in which to hear them.

Founded in 2009, Voxcetera is a London-based chamber choir celebrating music from medieval times to the present day under the direction of its founding conductor Jane Hopkins. The choir has performed at St Martin-in-the-Fields, St John Smith Square, the Science Museum, British Library and the Southbank Centre and has undertaken a variety of recording work. The choir will be accompanied by Paul Ayres on piano and organ.
